Él es Digno!
Christian and I just returned from Missionary Training in Springfield this past week, and it only fanned the flames of the burden God has given us for the country of Chile. We are so excited and full of anticipation to see what God will do as we are obedient to him.
A story was shared at our commissioning service that has always struck a chord with me and I wanted to share it here–
In the early 1730s, two young Moravians heard about enslaved Africans living in the Danish West Indies (present-day U.S. Virgin Islands). They became so burdened by the fact that many enslaved people had little access to the gospel. They volunteered to sell themselves into slavery in order to reach the enslaved population. These were not wealthy, professionally trained missionaries. They were ordinary believers who expected:
- Poverty
- Disease
- Separation from family
- Possible death far from home
Many Moravian missionaries packed their belongings in coffins because they did not expect to return.
For them, missions was not a temporary assignment; it was often a lifelong sacrifice. as their ship pulled away from the dock– they shouted:
"May the Lamb that was slain receive the reward of His suffering!"
Jesus is worthy of our lives laid down for people of all nations to know Him. He is worthy of so much more than we can give. So we give Him our everything to live according to the call He has given us. He is a good God!
